YOUR OBJECTIONS ARE CRITICAL IN
THIS FIGHT

Objection Deadline: 31st January 2025
Why object
We, along with a large proportion of the community, believe this site is not fit for the proposed development. To escalate the application for a more detailed review, we need individual objections (so more than one per household!). Objections must be clear, factual, and evidence based and should aim to use personal examples (where possible).

Application Details 2025

Site: Land off Woodward Court/Hepworth Lane
Proposal: 75 residential dwellings (Bellway Homes)
Reference: 2025/93355 (Kirklees Council)

Please note: The submitted application is different from that seen at the Public Consultation held by Bellway on 2 October 2025. See map, below, for the proposed plan.

How to Object

There are several ways that you can object:
Online:
Visit Kirklees Planning Portal (Search for planning applications | Kirklees Council) and search for Planning reference 2025/93355. Maximum words 500

Email:
dc.admin@kirklees.gov.uk. If you want to say more than 500 words.

Post:
Write a letter to the following address, but post in good time.
Kirklees Council,
Planning and development
P.O. Box 1720
Huddersfield
HD1 9EL
In your objection you must clearly state the reference number 2025/93355 and say that you are formally objecting to this application. Give your full name and address. Failing to do this may mean that your objection will not be correctly logged and may not count.

Guidelines for Submitting Objections
The objections process allows you to voice your concerns on the development, but we need a large number of objections to ensure a detailed review is undertaken. Remember:
-
Each household member may submit an objection.
-
Use your own words- up to 500.
-
Submit by the deadline: 31st January
Focus on 'material' planning factors: traffic and road safety, impacts on infrastructure (schools, healthcare, drainage), flood or drainage risks, effects on wildlife and biodiversity, design and layout of the development, and compliance with planning regulations. A brief example of an objection follows:

Example objection:
My name is Joe Bloggs and I live at 14 Crossley Lane, HD1 9AB. I wish to formally object to application 2025/93355 on the grounds that Hepworth Lane cannot safely accommodate the extra traffic the development would generate. The lane is too narrow in places for two cars to pass and lacks footpaths, forcing both vehicles and pedestrians—especially schoolchildren—to share the road, which increases the risk of congestion and accidents.
